Things seemed bleak in the world of cat-loving singles. COVID-19 made it harder to go out and meet new people. So, those looking to make a new romantic connection turned to their phone for dating apps. Then, in June, a study by Colorado State University dropped the bomb that men who liked cats – or at least, had pictures with them on their profile, were less likely to get dates than their cat-free counterparts.
That’s where sisters Leigh and Casey Isaacson hope their app “Tabby” comes in and to the rescue – designed “for both cat lovers and cat owners,” Tabby is a dating app that helps cat-lovers connect. According to a press release, “Cat-lovers will be able to meet each other, plan cat-friendly dates, get deals from cat companies, and share videos, photos, and stories all while their cats are in their element — at home.”
Tabby rejects the idea of the crazy cat lady stereotype: “Really, cat people are the most suitable for real relationships. We understand what it means to earn trust and how to relish affection,” Actor Nathan Kehn noted in the press release.
But what if you have a cat already, and your cat doesn’t get along with other cats? You don’t want to meet someone and you can’t take any next steps because your cats end up hating each other. Well, not to worry! Tabby is for cat-lovers, not just people with cats. People who want to gets cats in the future are also welcome on this app, so maybe you can find your purrfect match without fears of how your cats might interact.
Leigh and Casey Isaacson have previously launched an app called “Dig”, which is a dating app mean for dog-lovers. After Tabby launches, I presume their next app will help all pet-lovers connect. Or maybe they’ll just specifically focus on hamsters.
Tabby will launch on August 8th, which is also International Cat Day. Tabby will be available to download on iOS, Android and at TabbyDates.com.
