CatGenie Washable Granules are just little beads of plastic.
They are actually composed of natural materials. These materials are coated in special additives that help them get broken down by bacteria in a landfill or septic tank, making them septic safe. The materials have been tested by hundreds of cats to ensure they are safe and nontoxic, as well as approved by vets. Being reusable, they are also better for the environment than throwing away cat litter daily.
Washable Granules are too small.
The shape and size of the Washable Granules were invented specifically with cats comfort and usability in mind. They were designed to be as close to the size of the cat litter as possible. Keeping the Washable Granules a similar size helps the cats better adjust to the CatGenie.
The issue of litter tracking is actually about the same with traditional cat litter vs. CatGenie Washable Granules. The difference is traditional cat litter breaks down into dust over time. Washable Granules should be round.
Cats preferred the CatGenie Washable Granules elongated shape over a rounded one. Rounded Washable Granules cause the cat to sink into the cat litter like a ball pit, a feeling they do not like. The Washable Granules shape allows the cat to dig through them naturally, without sinking to the bottom of the bowl. We tumble them in a special machine before packaging to make sure all the edges are smooth for kitty’s paws and prevent scratches/damage to the inside of the CatGenie.
